After the breakup

I’m so angry at you for abandoning me like this after months of reassuring me that we were on the same page. You told me you loved me but right now that seems nothing but a lie. You told me you wanted a relationship, that you could see us having something long term if we continued down the path we were on. We went away on holiday together and you told me that was a big step. You talked about meeting each other’s families, you met my mum and my stepdad, and yet you turned around suddenly and told me you no longer wanted it.

I deserved better than this. Better than uncertainty, better than half-effort, better than someone who walks away instead of trying. I showed up for you fully and honestly, even when it scared me. You may have chosen to leave, but I know what I gave was real, and one day you’ll realise what you lost. I just wish I didn’t have to be the one who learned the lesson this way.
