A few observations:
- This was the fourth murder in Norfolk in October and the 24th overall for 2025.
- The average age of those murdered in Norfolk has been 31 years of age. The average for the year has been 28.54.
- 17 of the 24 people killed in Norfolk this year have been identified as men. The remaining seven have been women. This continues a multi-year trend of more men killed than women, though a little less lopsided towards men than recent years.
- Four murders in a month is bad, though it is not the worst month this year so far; that would be July, with five murders. It also may feel like this bad week would put us well ahead of the pace year-to-year. As of the end of October, 2025 is better than 2024 by 5 incidents and fewer than 2023 by 10 murders. Let us hope this downward trend continues.
- As always, I am posting this so that we can see the data and make conclusions from it. It is not meant to scare people off or raise alarms.
Be safe, make good decisions!
