Canada not safe to invest in?

land title uncertainty in Canada is now affecting financing, development and even existing homeowners
What’s happening in Canada should concern anyone investing in Canada.

A major Richmond manufacturing project expected to bring hundreds of high-tech and medical industry jobs has been denied financing because of unresolved Cowichan Aboriginal land title claims. Lenders are pulling back, citing uncertainty over who actually holds legal title.

This isn’t an isolated incident. Over 140 homeowners in Western Canada recently lost their properties after courts recognized Aboriginal land rights that override registered land titles. People who held what they thought were secure deeds suddenly found out that, legally, their ownership wasn’t guaranteed.

The message to investors is clear: land in Canada, especially in Western Canada, may not be as secure as it appears on paper. Until governments create a predictable legal and financial framework to resolve Indigenous title claims, every major development and even existing property carries hidden sovereign risk.

If lenders and insurers can’t rely on the land registry, how can investors?

The situation has made it Clear Canada is not a safe place to invest in.
