Will it ever be the same ?

I recently lost a childhood friend , she didn't pass away or anything we just fell apart . We still live 2 floors apart and still run into each other sometimes. If we meet during festivals we are taking nicely laughing but there's still that awkwardness and hesitation, we kinda hate each other now after a lot of "misunderstandings" and confrontations she just stopped talking and I stopped trying but deep inside me I still miss her I mean we had been friends for 18 years ( all her life ) I literally was there when she was born right in front of me even tho I was a child myself. She was more of a sister than my own ....I can't feel the same with other friend of mine whom I've been with 6 years , I can't be that comfortable with her. Will that comfort ever come back or I'll forever miss that bond ..???
