Urgent! Applying for the visa before my current visa expires?

Hey there! I’m a Canadian who has been living in Croatia for 8 years. My current residency permit in Croatia expires at the end of November, and I intended to submit my application this coming Monday (start of November). I saw someone say you need to do the biometrics from a place you can be for 6 months, so I’m unsure about this.

Will I have issues if I do my application in Croatia while my permit here is still valid? Is there somewhere else I’d need to go in order to do the application and not risk rejection because of this 6 months thing?

I could really use some help!!
