I need help, Should I switch to a part 61 school.
So right now I am going to a part 141 school, its a smaller part 141 school. The planes I am flying are all older around 1980 cesnas and while they are on the older side the school is still charging pretty expensive. $325-380 total for 1 hour. While I called a local part 61 school and asked for rates, and the total would be around $250. I am not taking out a loan either so Im currently paying as I go, so I figured if im going to pay as i go then i might as well just go to a part 61 school right? Also at the part 141 school i feel like the instructors there arent as good and even the airspace, we share an airport with amazon jets and atp so theres a good amount of traffic usually on a normal day. Maybe its just me but i currently have about 18 hours into ppl and i probably only found 10 of those hours useful while the other 8 was a waste of time and money. It seems like the instructors there only want to build hours and thats it.
I dont want to keep spending money here if i dont really need to. Its cheaper at a part 61 school and i fly newer planes, i mean im really seriously thinking about just switching. But at the same time its killing me that if i switch i wont be able to get R-ATP at 1000 hours. So im not sure what to do, the main reason i even went with part 141 to begin with was the 1000 hour minimum to get hired by the airlines.
Its also the little things im thinking about as well, like would i even be able to go from zero to airline pilot in a part 61 school without an accelerated program? Also things like will i have dpe available for me when i need it or will i be waiting months to do my checkride.
Any advice would be GREATLY appreciated
