For those who may be uninsured next year
Some thoughts gathered from various people I know:
There are faith related health care cost sharing ministries like Medishare. I’m not sure if you have to profess a certain faith to belong but worth looking into.
Look for a family doctor who charges a monthly membership fee instead of insurance. I have a relative who belongs to one of these - there’s even a super cheap pharmacy attached to the practice. And the doctor has privileges at the local hospital.
Your local health department may offer more services than you realize.
And finally - all health care pricing is negotiated. Insurance just does the negotiating for their subscribers. It’s a lot of work, but people often have to do their own negotiating with hospitals
All of this is a lot of work and it’s unfair we are getting jerked around so much. I hope one of these thoughts/suggestions help.
