Restaurant with GOOD vegan options?

bf is introducing me to some old classmates next weekend! It'll be a group date with 3 couples.

There are so many places that tout a "vegan friendly" menu and it's just one or two options of a bland overpriced pile of unseasoned, half cooked veggies with no sauce, or a modified vegetarian option becoming a dry sandwich with no sauce or some shit like that.

Most Indian places have well marked vegetarian dishes, but fall short of anything dairy free. Or they'll say it's dairy free and then I end up trying really hard not to blast ass at the table. My bf would like to avoid an Indian place with the group we're going to eat with, anyway, as that's where he and his friends usually go. I don't want to make everyone go to a fully vegan place, either.

TL;DR: looking for tasty affordable vegan options beyond Indian food, preferably cafe-style
