I cracked the code on Red God and Eidmi

I will call this the Mars Quarantine Theory:

I don’t know why I had this revelation just now but it seemed almost perfect since it’s slightly close to my old theories, but makes more sense character wise. For it to happen we need 3 things.

1. Lysander is currently winning the final battle for Mars. He has Phobos. He’s killed Atalanta and her Golds have joined his cause. He has destroyed most of Darrow’s fleet and his current Iron Rain looks like he will be victorious in days. (Maybe he already used Eidmi on Obsidian’s therefore screwing half of Darrow’s army but this isn’t required)

2. Despite currently losing overall Darrow managed to steal Eidmi from Lysander (somehow).

3. Darrow can find a way to evacuate his Gold loved ones (ie: Virginia, Pax, maybe Sevro although the last two could maybe survive what I’m going to suggest).

So Darrow has all but lost, but has Eidmi. What can he do? He’s on home turf on Mars but Lysander will win and bring back Gold dominance and slavery of lowcolors. His only choice is clear. End Golds on Mars.

First he must get whoever he loves off Mars. He uses Eidmi on Golds. Lysander’s army (along with part of Darrow’s but maybe some even agreed to the sacrifice) start to die off one by one. It spreads rapidly and we get to see Darrow confront Lysander as he dies from the disease and most of his army falls into disarray as Darrow’s reds and other lowcolors take out Lysander’s crippled forces.

As Lysander is dying Darrow broadcasts a message as far as it will go. He will have Virginia help spread the broadcast and show all those off planet what is happening to Gold’s on Mars. This will create a great quarantine. All Gold’s off Mars will see what is happening and ensure that any ship that tries to leave Mars or stray too far from its orbit is shot down (from now until the end of time). Darrow will also ensure his people never leave Mars. Mars will be free of all Golds (possibly forever until the genetics change again to make a species like Quicksilver’s experiments of new homosapiens). Golds off Mars will fear that Darrow still has this power to break the quarantine and exterminate their race. This fear along with Virginia and Diomedes alliance will push them to accept the rule of The Republic and end the Society while Mars remains an independent planet. Mars will be ruled by lowcolors for the first time. Darrow will live as their Red God. Unable to ever see his family again in person. A bittersweet ending where he succeeds in saving his family but can never see them.

A possible caveat (and I don’t think this will happen) is if half Gold’s (like Sevro and Pax) can possibly survive Eidmi. Perhaps Sevro will be the accidental guinea pig here because he may want to stay by Darrow’s side to make up for leaving him before and ensure the plan works. If he lives since he is half Red.. maybe Pax could too but he probably wouldn’t be allowed on planet due to the quarantine and spreading it. Let’s hope this option doesn’t happen though because then Sevro would be forever separated from Victra and his kids as well.
