Why are people in this sub Fighting For, Campaigning for and longing for, A game that isn't made yet?

I don't get it. people get so defensive about this game like someone in their family is a Bungie CEO or as if they are investing money in the game. If it was out and you like it, ok, you are passionate about something you like and spend time playing, that's fine. But what's the deal here? If it launches and it's good, play it, if not, screw it, play something else.WHO CARES? Don't you have anything better to do with your time?
