Stop going to Armageddon if you’re sick.

Discussion

I posted about Armageddon not too long ago, and I’ve still got more to say. I’m posting here because I want this to reach the right people. With all due respect, most cosplayers are quite well versed in con etiquette, whereas non cosplayers don’t seem to be. Though isn’t so much etiquette as it is common sense imo.

If you’re sick do NOT go to a convention. There are so many other people around that you’re just gonna get sick, some of which are immunocompromised. For most of us what could be a simple cold could put them in the hospital.

“But if they don’t wanna get sick they shouldn’t go” why? Why should they have to miss out because of a few selfish people? And yes, it is selfish. It’s INCREDIBLY selfish to have such little regard for the people around you.

On the not so serious end it just kinda sucks to come back after a great weekend and find out you got sick, but again, as I said, there’s a lot of people who go to Geddon who are immunocompromised.

I have a friend who got sick. At first it was like “oh that sucks” but then I found out they’re immunocompromised, they were having trouble breathing and had to go to the hospital.

It’s not fair for people to not attend just so that they don’t get sick and end up in hospital because of some selfish idiot. I get it, it sucks to not be able to go because you got sick. But when the alternative is putting someone in the hospital, potentially killing them in some cases, then maybe it’s better to sit this one out.

On that note, if you’re on the tail end of a cold or something and you absolutely HAVE to go out, to a convention or just anywhere honestly, wear a fucking mask.

I feel like there were a lot of things we did during Covid that we should normalise, like wearing masks occasionally, wash and sanitise your hands more often, STAY HOME IF YOU’RE SICK.

It’s not rocket science and it’s really not that hard to just have some compassion for those around you.

My friend that I mentioned earlier actually made their own post about this and I think it’s important for y’all to hear from someone who is immunocompromised and ended up in HOSPITAL after getting sick from con. Especially if you don’t see how serious this is. I’ll see if I can link it here, maybe in the comments, as apparently putting that link in this post is against the rules (no shade to the mods, y’all are just doing your jobs) but I still feel this story should be shared.

Anyway, thank you for reading if you got to the end, please take my words to heart.
