482 visa lodged and current notice period

Hi guys, I have just lodged my 482 visa offshore(sponsored SID) and I was wondering if I should let my employer know and start my notice period or wait. Same for my tenancy. I am in England so we usually have a 3 months notice period and 2 for tenancy. I guess that if my visa takes 5 months to be approved, I will then be 2 months off work and I will need to move somewhere else and I can’t afford to be off work for 2 months. What was your experience so far?
