Is this out of line for a lecturer? Should I re-grade and report?
Hi everyone!
I have never experienced a rude tutor or lecturer before, so I am unsure how to progress on this. This lecturer in particular seemed to always be angry and stressed when it came to assessments, though that was targeted towards individuals who would show up late or not show up at all, understandably causing the lecturer more issues.
I, however, have attended everything required and not caused any issues in the slightest. However, I recently gained some feedback from one of my assignments that honestly has left me shocked. A few fellow classmates also agree.
His feedback on the assignment as is follows:
- "yes you have made this point already" "this just repeating the same point at the previous sentence" "you already made this same point in the previous sentence" "You have made this point already!"
- The reason why I have supposedly repeated myself 600 times is because it is an essay analysing behaviour. This is what is expected of an analytical essay.....
- "What? Dont you know how to reference properly? Multiple authors like this should be et al.,
- I agree, I did make a mistake here. However, why is he being so rude about this? Simply commenting that it was incorrect referencing would have been much more professional...
In the rubric, he proceeds to comment on how my grammar is wrong. I find this funny as in almost every single email and course content, his writing is FULL of typos. Even in this marking there is a plethora.
Additionally, during a lecture recording, he even admitted that: "everyone's got written feedback, some have actual written feedback IN the assignment, but that's only if you really annoyed me".
So, what do you guys think I should do? I honestly feel like he woke up on the wrong side of the bed and just went ham on me for no reason. Is getting it remarked worth it? How would I go about it? I still have one more assessment with this dude, and wouldn't want to stir up his anger even more.
