[Acne] Why does some skin glow on tretinoin while others stay dry and dull?
Tretinoin has been the topic of discussion for the famous “Tretinoin glow,” yet I have not experienced this lasting effect. I have been using that for acne. Most of the time, my skin looks dull and very dry. I've been using the la roche posay moisturiser along with tret, so I really wonder what is missing. Can the composition of the skin lipids or the individual genetics impact the visual display of Tretinoin? Perhaps, those with more oily skin have better surface reflection while dry skin undergoes more micro-exfoliation that can dull the tone. It makes me think of over-exfoliation or shortage of ceramides that could lead to uneven light reflection. The puzzling issue is that my fine lines are less visible, but the glow is still absent. Has anyone come up with the reasons behind that glow which has been so much talked about? Is the glow really a result of tretinoin or the healthier barrier that is formed after regular use?
