Licentra v1.0.0 is out! Version-aware licensing with patch/minor version-level update access

Business Tools

I've always hated the standard subscription model: a customer cancels, and instantly they lose access to the stable version they paid for. It feels unfair and destroys any chance of them coming back.

I have built Licentra. It's an open-source, API-free licensing framework that uses semantic versioning to manage access fairly for both parties (customers and business owners).

Features

  1. Perpetual Access: When a user's subscription ends, they always keep and can continue using the specific major version (e.g., 2.x.x) they last paid for. No more full lockouts.
  2. Flexible Stability: You can optionally allow non-paying users to keep receiving patch and minor updates (bug fixes and small, non-breaking features). This keeps their installation stable and reflects well on you.
  3. Revenue Protection: They are automatically blocked from major version updates (e.g., jumping from 2.9.9 to 3.0.0) until they renew their subscription.
