SMD dead - MSI EDGE 790 WIFI DDR4 - Help!

Troubleshooting

Hi fellow MSIans,

(i let google translate this text from german to english, i'm still in mourning-mode...)

my computer (MSI Edge 790 Wifi DDR4, i9-13900K, 4x32GB DDR4 3200 RAM, RTX2080, no overclocking, no undervolting on either the CPU or GPU, BeQuiet DarkPower 750 [an old model, the one with the mesh]) shut down while running, the power supply switched off. I checked everything, unplugged USB devices, turned the computer back on, and there was a flame and smoke.

I unplugged the power cord. Computer dead. I started the standard troubleshooting steps: I screamed, cried, cursed my life, removed the RAM and graphics card, searched everything with a flashlight, unplugged all the blinking components, and the computer started without the graphics card and seems to be running. I can (sort of) work, no crashes, Lightroom and Photoshop are running, RAM usage is sometimes up to 110 out of 128GB, the processor is frequently under full load, everything seems okay.

So, a new power supply it is, tough enough, the computer is from better times, money's tight, I need this machine for work. Before ordering, I checked everything again with a flashlight, well, I'd overlooked something on the back.

Does anyone know what these SMDs are/were for? I can't afford a new computer, I'll have to replace the motherboard, but now I'm worried the CPU might be faulty. That would be a disaster right now.

I'm trying not to cry. Again.
