How do you deal with people who copy you?

F17 here. For most, they say that imitation is a compliment. But for me personally — picking at the most important parts of who I am, what I like and how I present myself is very agitating to me especially if I've worked so hard to get where I am. An example is my partner; he's very socially adjusted and accepted since he's extroverted and outgoing. But lately, he's been mimicking the way I write, the way I think, talk, my music interests, the languages I want to learn, my talents, and my hobbies — all of which he normally wouldn't like because majority of these are sedentary activities or topics. I know this can stem from admiration and good intent but it feels pretentious and offensive to me.

I have had people copy me one way or another subtly or otherwise and it's always bothered me.

There's a clear line between taking inspiration from someone and copying them for validation/because you're not secure yourself.
