Some tips on map making this ambitions project?

Good morning, evening and Afternoon, I'm looking for some guidance,

I'm planning on making an custom map from scratch, and I need some reference on size of streets, homes, apartments, or any tips.
I'm using a method I haven't seen before, which is using Minecraft as a reference for map making because of how similar the scaling(Tiles, cells etc), just as a start to have some sort of reference on how I would work on the PZ Map maker, sense 1 tile is very similar to 1 block in MC.
I plan on Making the Bexar County(At the very least, start with Helotes, Texas)

So...any Tips?
