Gloryhole experience?

I don't know where to put this question, hopefully it's ok here. I have this fantasy of visiting a glory hole. Has anyone done it before? Is it just gay guys? Is it gross inside? Are there any personal safety concerns besides the obvious STI's? Is it just better off as a fantasy? Please weigh in and I don't think I need any DM's so please just comment only.
