Wide flat membrane roof with no drip edge lets water behind gutters. How to solve?

We bought a house 2 years ago that has a patio between the house and garage that is about 20 x 25 with a flat pitched roof. The roof is silver membrane, which overlaps to form the seal. The edge, however, is rounded off with no drip edge. The membrane wraps around the radius so I see no way to add one.

The problem is this huge amount of water rolls off that flat roof into the gutters and gets between the gutters and the fascia board, which has now caused the soffit to rot out at the seams of the plywood.

Is there a solution to this? It seems like at some point they tried to use a roofing cement between the gutters and the fascia. Would our solution be to dig out and replace that cement? Of course there is debris and crud in that gap now. Or is there some sort of flat drip moulding that could be mounted above the gutter to channel water out into the gutter instead? I have attached a crude diagram.
