Both me [16 F] and my bf [16 M] are mentally unstable, but I really want this to work.

As the title says, both me and my boyfriend are mentally unstable. We have known each other for ca 4 months, and dated for 1 month. We met in school.

I really enjoy spending time with him, we relate to each other a lot, match each others energy, and have the same sense of humour. We always have fun or just relax together.

The thing is that both of us have years of childhood trauma and are both mentally unstable. We both suffer from depression, which we can relate to each other with but otherwise our issues are pretty different.

He often blames himself for the smallest of things and beats himself up over it and getting depressed and draws himself away and ignores me, which pisses me off really bad. He’s also heavily insecure. Which I don’t get, because he conventionally is an attractive guy.

I have always struggled with keeping relationships since I was a young child because of my overreacting nature and frequent mood swings. Basically all of my platonic and romantic relationships have ended within only a couple months or became toxic because of me. I am also a victim of CSA, which limits the amount of intimacy we have together. He’s very understanding sbd patient and careful with me, but I’m scared he’ll get bored of me because of it.

I really don’t want that to happen this time. I want to keep him, even if I understand that we’re not very likely to become lifelong partners, since were two 16 year olds. I just want to stay with him for as long as I can. But I don’t quite know how to make it happen.

I have horrible self control and always end up saying or doing something stupid or wrong and in this case I fear that just the slightest slip up will end up with him leaving me or me doing something dumb.

So how can I make this work and in a healthy way? I don’t want to end up in a toxic relationship with him, and I also don’t want him to leave.
