New cast iron owner and I need help
I received a vintage cast iron pan from my husband's grandmother.
It's beautiful, and in pretty great condition considering the age and not being used for decades.
The problem:
His grandmother is a hoarder and has 10 cats. I scrubbed the pan with dawn and a coarse sponge, rinsed well, dried with a paper towel, and then set it to dry out on my stove top burner set on medium high heat. Started to unload my dishwasher when I started smelling burnt cat urine. My heart dropped to my stomach, I put my hood vent to the maximum ventilation setting, and turned off the burner. My house now reeks of cat urine. I'm mad and am wondering if it is even worth trying to save this beautiful cast iron pan. Thoughts?
