Freshly pregnant 1yr post op

Advice

I (34F) had my one year surgery anniversary on 10.29.25 and I’ve lost 110lbs (it goes back and forth -5lbs and +5lbs, so I don’t say 115lbs). My highest was 315lbs and I’m 205lbs now. My menstrual cycles returned 7 months ago and I take metformin for PCOS/insulin resistance. A big reason I got WLS was for the possibility to have children. Well, I just went to the doctor and they confirmed I am 5wks pregnant. Although it is early, I am super excited and hopeful it will stick.

I just had a follow up appointment with my surgeon last week and he said my labs look great and 115lbs is in line for 1-yr post op. He mentioned I’ve stalled on losing weight and asked if I wanted to start weight-loss shots. I declined because I wanted to continue to work with my nutritionist and lose without the shots - that is just my personal preference, no ill will to anyone taking them. I have a good diet where I eat about 1500-1700 calories a day, drink 48oz of water (should be drinking more), and walk almost every day for at least 30mins. I was working out, but have been extremely busy with work and haven’t for almost 2mths (I was going 3xwk).

If I were to get pregnant, I was fine with that. I was told that I should wait 1-1.5yr before getting pregnant and the timing was pretty much on the one year mark.

I am nervous to tell my surgeon and was wondering if anyone has advice or experienced something similar to this. I have a meeting with him again in 3mths to see if I’ve lost any more weight, and if my pregnancy stays, I’m not sure I will have.
