What’s the penalty at your firm if you release time late?
And how often are you expected to release your time?
At my firm, we need to release our time on a weekly basis (Tuesday at midnight is the deadline to release your past week, Mon-Sun). Almost no excuses for late submissions. Health or family emergencies only.
If we miss the deadline, we get a scarlet letter email saying we’re on the list. I don’t want to totally give away the firm by saying what the list is called, even though I’m sure those who work here will recognize this system. but let’s say the list is named after a kind of vermin, a la “Cockroach List.”
After 3 violations, our bonus eligibility is reduced. After 8, we’re ineligible for a bonus, and it’s no joke. People fr don’t get paid even if they exceed their billable targets.
I mentioned this to a friend at a firm with a less “nice” reputation than my firm and he said this system sounds harsh. So I’m curious, what does your firm do? or is this normal and my friend is being spoiled?
