Free Parking for Western Michigan Broncos Football vs. Ohio Bobcats Football at Waldo Stadium (Kalamazoo 11/11)
figured i'd share some parking advice for the game against ohio this tuesday. it gets absolutely crazy around waldo stadium so hopefully this helps someone out.
your best bet for free parking is to just go to the lot at lawson ice arena. it's a bit of a walk, but they run a free and continuous shuttle bus starting about three hours before kickoff that drops you off right by the stadium gates. the best part is you skip the insane traffic jam trying to get out of the big lots right after the game.
honestly, if you want a guaranteed spot right next to the stadium, check out prked. its an app where people who live by waldo stadium rent out their driveways for the game. it's usually way cheaper than the official lots and you can get a spot a super short walk away which lets you skip most of the traffic chaos.
if you're going the traditional route, the main public lots are off of oakland drive and stadium drive. just a heads up, parking is $15 now and they dont take cash anymore so have a card ready. they opened a big new lot by the zhang legacy collections building off oakland drive that has a ton of spots too. the lots closest to the stadium are mostly for donors. whatever you do, get there early. the tailgate lots open up five hours before the game and they fill up fast.
traffic on stadium dr gets really backed up, so if you're coming from the west, try using howard ave to get to the lots instead, it can save you a big headache. oh and don't forget they have that clear bag policy. a weird tip but the stadium is built into a hill, so if you park on the southeast side you're gonna have a long walk up a bunch of stairs after the game.
hope this helps everyone. should be a great game, go broncos.
