Search and Rescue Opportunities?

I am a 21M university student. I have been interested in SAR for quite some time now, but I don't really know how to get involved. I am a licensed EMT and have my open water SCUBA certification, so I have some skills that might be useful for this. I found a few services after googling, but I don't know what's actually good/legit.

I saw that the Hennepin County Sheriff's Office has a volunteer program that might include some search and rescue, but the description kind of sounds like it's mostly crowd control, traffic control, and other things like that. I'm not sure if that's what I'm looking for.

Does anybody have any experience in this and know how I can get involved, or any knowledge about what are some good programs to apply to?
