One More Hour
( I was convinced by my therapist and a few friends to post my poetry. I tend to write late at night when my thoughts are heavy. Forgive me on my grammatical errors. I don’t write for the aesthetic, I write for myself and relatability )

“I’m just not hungry,” not today. just one more hour, I’ll be okay
but the world keeps turning, the questions brew “Are you sure?” they ask, but I already knew It's not about the food, it’s about the weight
So I’ll hide it with words, a smile that’s thin A mask I wear, a way to fit in Worth nothing without the mask in front of me because if I am not pretty They’ll realize I don’t actually fit No place in society for any extra weight to perfectly sit
“I’m just not hungry,” not today. just one more hour, I’ll be okay
The mirror reflects a face I do not know A body that is foreign, too large or too small
I’m not hungry, just busy, just tired A story i tell, a lie I’ve acquired I don’t feel hunger, not the way I should Each skipped meal is a wound that won’t heal
“I’m just not hungry,” not today. just one more hour, I’ll be okay
An Instance of noshing, guilt sets in deep I have broken a promise, I swore I would keep I let myself be weak as I lost control
A cycle of shame swallows me whole
“I’m just not hungry,” not today. just one more hour, I’ll be okay
