Is being a Postie really as bad as everyone makes it seem?
Hi everyone,
After recently looking for a new job, I came across a ‘postie with driving role’ for the Royal Mail. It seemed decent enough, paid £15.50 an hour, which is higher than most jobs I’ve had. The DO is also local to where I live, so that’s nice.
Anyways I applied and did all the tests they required. I got invited for an interview not even 15 hours after applying, which I thought was a bit of a red flag. However could just be that Christmas is coming up and they need to fill roles quick.
Nevertheless, the schedule that was listed seemed very good, 30 hours Mon-Fri 8-2. 6 hours per day. It mentioned being required to work weekends but didn’t mention them as part of the usual advertised schedule, so I assumed this just meant on an occasional basis. But a lot of people here have wrote about not knowing their schedule and each week Being different from the next. That’s not ideal.
The physical side of the job doesn’t really worry me, I’ve been training in the gym for 4 years and played alot of sports, so i figured in theory the walking should be a piece of piss. But who knows.
Anyways after coming here and looking at some of the comments completely ripping the crap out of this job, it makes me second guess. Considering at first i thought this seemed like a fairly chill job, that keeps me active and fits my lifestyle.
The thing is with any job there’s going to be people who complain, so I’d appreciate any realistic insight, if it sucks then say that, but Im looking for genuine answers please.
