Calorie counting isn’t toxic — it’s just honest math most people don’t want to face.
Everyone says, “I don’t want to count calories forever.” Okay — but do you plan to eat mindfully forever? That’s just calorie counting with worse data.
I tried the “listen to your body” thing. It worked… until I realized my “hungry” and “bored” felt identical. When I finally logged my food, it hit me — maintenance was way less than I thought.
Counting isn’t obsessive if you treat it like brushing your teeth. It’s just upkeep. You don’t have to weigh lettuce or panic over a cookie. But “eyeballing it” forever? That’s how most people quietly drift back up.
I’ve tracked for three years now. Not because I love numbers — but because it keeps me honest. It’s data, not drama.
