Daily Update / Thoughts
Well its a few hours old news now, that CIFR & IREN announced major AI Infrastructure Deals with MSFT & AMZN
Am invested in 3 out of these 4 companies, $AMZN, $MSFT and $IREN and I would try my best to share a balanced view.
Though Shares jumped significantly for both CIFR and IREN but the shift raises both opportunities and risks.
Cipher Mining $CIFR – 15-Year AWS Agreement
• 300 MW AI-ready capacity in Texas (air- & liquid-cooled).
• $5.5B in lease revenue over 15 years; rollout from July 2026.
• New 1 GW JV site (“Colchis”) with secured power.
• Upside: Locks in long-term, high-margin revenue; reduces BTC price volatility exposure.
• Downside: No revenue until mid-2026; execution risk on buildout and capex (~$1B+ needed).
Iris Energy $IREN – 5-Year MSFT AI Cloud Deal
• $9.7B contract for NVIDIA GB300 NVL72 GPU clusters from Childress, TX (510 MW).
• 20% upfront payment (~$1.94B annualized revenue potential).
• Paused BTC mining expansion in April to prioritize AI.
• Upside: Immediate cash flow, strong counterparty, premium AI margins.
• Downside: High GPU capex (~$5.8B via Dell), tech obsolescence risk, and full pivot away from mining.
For both these deals, the bull and bear case is as following
🟢 Bull Case
• AI demand from hyperscalers is structural and growing.
• Miners have power + land—scarce assets for data centers.
• Recurring revenue > volatile BTC mining post-halving.
• Early movers gain first-mover pricing power.
🔴 Bear Case
• Execution risk: Delays, cost overruns, or tech shifts could erode value.
• No near-term cash for CIFR; IREN tied to GPU delivery schedules.
• Miners abandoning core business—identity shift may confuse investors.
• AI capex race could lead to overcapacity if demand cools.
For $MSFT and $AMZN its a master stroke, in case AI demand doesnt justify the need, they can walk away from the deals after some penalties albeit hefty though.
With these deals am hoping that $BITF another investment of mine, exactly same theme also would get some large power hungry customer and that share would pop up, a bit speculative, but I have a strong gut feel that it’d happen, I have written a detailed write up, have a read ( not investment advice though)
Overall as all these stocks hype up, the probability of a major correction increases, so am putting tight limit orders.
