Why mythological movies not doing well in Tamil?

Telugu industry continue producing mythological/devotional movies till now. But in Tamil they all stopped in 60's. Around 80's and 90's so called sami padam ruled with minimum guarantee, but they are social stories + Goddess appearance.

Even recent waves of myth movies in other languages doing well in other states, but their tamil version flops. Where as people here accepts Bahubali, KGF & Pushpa kind of movies.

Personally I don't like myth movies, curious to understand why as a society.
