Significant difference between jock and Jill shorts on women?

I’m female and literally brand new to hockey. I was wondering if I could get a jock instead of a Jill because they’re just more comfortable to me or if it would be more dangerous to play, and just suck it up and deal with the more discomfort from the Jill?

Also every site I look at seems to have Jill’s with less protection for the same price as jocks.
