Foreign object inside college cafeteria food.
About a year ago, I ordered an egg sandwich from my college cafeteria, and halfway through eating it, I discovered a piece of plastic inside. When I tried to chew it, I realized it wasn’t food — it was a paper wrapper coated in plastic. I even swallowed some of it before noticing. I immediately reported the incident to the dining hall manager, took pictures for documentation, and was told the issue would be addressed. Nothing further came of it, and I moved on.
However, today something far more concerning happened. While eating another meal from the same college, I bit into something hard and foreign. When I spit it out, I was shocked to find a rusty nail in my food — something I had chewed and nearly swallowed thinking it was food. I immediately reported this to the dining staff, took photos of both the meal and the nail, and handed the object over. I was told to return tomorrow for follow-up.
This is now the second serious contamination incident I’ve experienced from the same college dining hall, and it clearly raises major health and safety concerns. I want to understand what kind of compensation I might be entitled to for the distress, potential health risk, and overall negligence involved in these two incidents, and what steps I should take next to ensure this matter is properly investigated and addressed.
