Me (M23) and my girlfriend (F25) have been dating for 4 years and she wants me to get a vasectomy
I’ll keep it short because I don’t want to get into our truly personal stuff… but my girlfriend and I have been having some very serious talks everyone once and a while about us, and our future, and what we want… eventually we got on the topic of kids… now we’ve both known for what feels like the whole relationship that we didn’t really want kids, at least not at the time (I don’t think in the future either but never say never) but this was the first time we’ve really sat down and made decisions
She thought it would be a good idea for me to get a vasectomy, which opposed to popular belief, are not considered reversible. I told her that I would need to think about it, and that it’s big decisions… but that seemed to annoy her a bit, I don’t think she understands the gravity of doing something like that or maybe I’m overthinking the gravity of doing something like that
I get not wanting kids and having a vasectomy go hand in hand, but I’m just comfortable with it at all, I don’t want a knife anywhere near that area, and I especially don’t want to risk anything going wrong down there because of the operation, no matter how small the risk is.
I’m perfectly happy with wearing condoms or using any other form of non invasive birth control, or being abstinent (in that way) if it comes to that
Is the operation worth it?
