Wet Saw Advice
Hey all I am a millworker, and I have a question about buying a wet saw.
I have a project where I will need to cut several hundred square feet of gypsum (not drywall, but the actually stone/crystal which is extremely soft) tiles. I am receiving the tiles partially cut but need to cut them down from about ~12" x 4" to maybe 8" x 1.75" (its a "random pattern so I will need to cut a wide variety of sizes.)
I borrowed a Rubi DC-250 (I know think there are a few styles, I am not sure exactly what this one was) and had some success but a few problems.
First I need to be extremely accurate for this project. Probably +/- .01" over 12". This is because I won't be able to grout or similar and need to have quite tight seams at the joint. I found the Rubi had some play in the track and blade. That made getting a "perfectly" straight and square cut difficult. The cut would be plenty good if i could put a small amount of grout/gap between the seams, but it isn't quite good enough to have all the times touch.
I do have a very high-end Martin table saw for cabinetry that I am able to get a sufficiently square and straight cut on, but I worry the saw isn't going to stand up to the dust, etc of cutting so much tile which it isn't designed to do. Also the blades available seem much more likely to shatter the gypsum than what I can get for a wet saw.
Anyway does anyone have a recommendation for a wet saw that might work for me. Basically I want the most accuracy I can get and I don't need to be able to cut very large tiles.
Thanks!
