Question on Flying Out of SFO International Terminal (G side)

So, we are flying out of SFO International tomorrow evening. I have often seen traffic on the International exit back waaaaay up onto the 101, even as the domestic departures traffic looked fine. So, it seems like if traffic is bad, I could just get dropped off at Terminal 3 (near the F gates area), and then walk, outside of security, over to the G gates area (which would be door 6). Any reason this wouldn't work? Thanks for any input!
