Will I get held back a year if I fail my final math exam? - year 10

Can you help me?

Hi,

I’m in year 10 & recently switched to public school after years of homeschooling (literally just this term). This means that I have been thrown in the deep end of exam prep and I am freaking out.

I have exactly two weeks until my end of year exam. I’m fine with everything but my math exam, and that’s a bad thing because I know math is a core subject that you NEED to pass.

I’ve been trying really hard. I have done nothing but study math for the entire term to try & understand it, I’ve asked my teacher questions but it just doesn’t make sense. When I was a little kid my teachers thought I had dyscalculia but I never got tested for some reason, so that’ll probably do it.

I was OK with math in homeschooling because my tests were online and not as stressful, I could remind myself to breathe and calm down. But these exams are literally the first physical exams I have ever taken in my life. I am so nervous.

I’m booking an appointment with my guidance counseller to discuss my options when it turns out I failed (trust me I will I have given up hope at this point), but I am so nervous. I feel so behind my peers, I don’t want to be the only 16 year old in my classes that flunked their math class (and probably will continue to do so until the school has enough of me and kicks me out) stuck in a year 10 class. I just need some advice, my family is too poor for tafe (I know about the whole ‘no school no fee’ thjng, but I don’t want to drop out unless I actually HAVE to) and tutoring so it’s all up to me.

Thank you in advance. I’m sorry this is such an off topic post, I don’t know where else to post it.
