Question for owners of the DGT SE

I just bought one in near mint shape from a GC and it plays amazing but im kinda surprised at how much noise I get when I coil tap that neck pickup. I know its emulating a single coil but even on clean amp models in my Spark amp I have to crank my noise gate way up. Is this normal?
