Dinner date, movie date, or secret option number 3?
I wish there were other romance options but to be clear, this is a wish rather than a complaint. I'm a straight woman, but I understand that Robert Robertson is into women, he isn't a blank slate protagonist, and this isn't going to be a game with infinite choices (frankly it's so well-animated that it couldn't be). I accept that and am only discussing this for fun.
Still, do the male side characters who aren't romance options seem like forbidden snacks to anyone else? For example, there's enemies to lovers potential with Flambe, I understand there's an actual smooch with Phenomeman even if it didn't come up on my playthrough, and Royd in particular is intelligent, thicc, and endearing.
But all of them pale in comparison to the deeply earnest, always-blushing Waterboy. While some might doubt his appeal because he's underconfident or because his power makes really uncomfortable sounds, it still feels like there's as much tension with him as there is with Blonde Blazer or Invisigal. While Blonde Blazer wants Robert to zip her dress and Invisigal shares her lewd dream, Waterboy literally accidentally says jizzed instead of jazzed while Robert is in nothing but a towel. Even if Robert isn't into it, Waterboy at least seems like an option.
In episode 4, I saw the either/or option for [DINNER WITH BLONDE BLAZER] or [MOVIE WITH INVISIGAL] and thought...
These typical date options don't really speak to me. They're not so special. Not innovative. I wanted to pick secret option number 3: going back to eat some [MELON IN THE SUPPLY CLOSET BUCKET WITH WATERBOY]
I went to the movies with Invisigal instead so that she could have her popcorn, but I still see the potential of what could have been...
