Porn has made us blind to women's struggle

I have been hooked to this disgrace of a human invention since I was forcibly introduced to it at the age of 6. I literally grew up with it. My sexuality was shaped by ever more extreme and accessible porn. Needless to say, it distorted how I viewed myself and others causing all sorts of sexual dysfunction. But, the worst part is not about me, is about how porn ultimately harms women. It teaches men to look at women as pieces of meat. There's studies done with brain imaging where porn consumers' brains did not treat naked women as human.

Porn has made us blind (if we weren't already), because we can no longer truly see women as complex, whole human beings. We subconsciously replicate old objectifying ideals, or fall for new, more extreme ones. This is what constitutes male gaze nowadays. It is haunting me, keeping me awake at night, because I am truly struggling to quit this poison, and yet I keep falling back into this bottomless pit, in spite of knowing it is ruining countless lives (mine included).

I truly want to believe men can do better and stop this damn r*pe industry.
