Dijon mustard in Australia doesn't taste like Dijon?
Hi Australia I moved to Australia from Europe two years ago and I was excited to find my favorite French Dijon brand Maille at Coles. Unfortunately it taste nothing like it does in Europe... It's usually quite strong, but it doesn't taste like much here. I even had my family bring a jar from Europe to compare. Both made in the same factory in Poland and they taste completely different! At restaurants in Australia, the hot English often taste more like true Dijon than the Dijon!
This has led me to the following theory - because Australia loves their hot English mustard, the Dijon recipe for the Australian market was purposely changed to distinguish it from hot English. Perhaps there are other brands here that taste like true Dijon? If you have any contacts within big mustard or other clues to the mystery, please share to help me solve the case.
