Good laptop for writing and art?
LAPTOP QUESTIONNAIRE
- Total budget (in local currency) and country of purchase. Please do not use USD unless purchasing in the US:
$500 USD, but feel free to suggest above this range since I plan on buying during the Black Friday sales.
- Are you open to refurbs/used?
Open to refurbs, yes.
- How would you prioritize form factor (ultrabook, 2-in-1, etc.), build quality, performance, and battery life?
-
Build quality - I try to be careful with my tech, but I'd prefer decent durability, just in case.
-
Performance - My purposes aren't super demanding, but it needs to be able to run word processing and art programs.
-
Battery life - Decent battery life would be nice, but I'm used to carrying a charger anyway, so I don't mind if it's not great.
-
Form factor - no special preference.
- How important is weight and thinness to you?
Not at all. All through college, I carried a heavy gaming laptop with me.
- Do you have a preferred screen size? If indifferent, put N/A.
No strong preference. Just not something super tiny.
- Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run.
Clip Studio Paint, Scrivener, Aseprite, MS Word.
- Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, reliable build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)?
Ideally with decent keyboard since I'll be using it for writing. Decent build would also be nice. Don't care about touchpad since I hate touchpads and usually use mice anyway. Backlit keyboard would be a bonus since I have bad eyes but it's not necessary.
