I told my husband I won’t get another abortion, and now he says we shouldn’t have sex at all
I (25F) got pregnant with my husband (25M) earlier this year. We decided together to have an abortion, and I don’t regret that choice. It was the right decision at the time.
That said, I know now that I never want to get another abortion again. I told my husband this clearly, I can’t and won’t go through that again.
I also don’t want to be on the pill anymore. We only have sex maybe twice a week, and I hate taking it every day. I forget often, and when I do take it consistently, it makes my periods heavier and my moods worse.
My husband used to seem open to the idea of a vasectomy, but now he says he doesn’t want to do it unless they put him completely under. When I said that if he doesn’t want to get a vasectomy, we can either use condoms or abstain, but that if condoms fail, I still won’t have an abortion. He basically said, “then we’ll abstain.”
I told him I don’t think that’s realistic. I feel like I’ve communicated my boundaries clearly, but I’m starting to wonder if this difference in values is something we can’t work through.
Would this be something worth considering divorce over? I don’t want to be resentful, but I also don’t want to live with a constant fear of pregnancy.
