What Locations Should My Rails Go?

I built a train/rail station to my husband's and friend's bases in Minecraft but have slots for six other destinations. Where else should my rails take me?

Obviously rails are not the fastest method of travel and are difficult to build in survival, so I don't want them going a huge vast distance away as nether highways seem more efficient for long distance travel.

Should I make rails to a nearby village even though I trade at home? Should it go to a favorite mining location? A pillager outpost? A more ideal nether portal location? A monster farm? Where should my rails take me?
