Reaching out to old piano teacher

🎶Other

(First of all, I am sorry if this post doesn’t belong here, I’d just thought i’d be somewhat relevant).

When I was 12, I started playing piano took lessons with the same teacher for about 3 years at a music store. While it’s typical for music lessons, they were definitely not cheap being $30 for 30 minutes once a week. My parent was willing to pay for them though because I had a really great teacher. She was not only skilled but understood my playing style and I just felt really comfortable with her. This might be TMI but one day I wanted to quit because I felt I wasn’t improving(I was kind of insecure as a kid and lacked discipline). My dad was even going to let me do it because he saw how unhappy I was. Yet, she took the time to talk to him on the phone for an hour and told him it would be a huge mistake for me to quit and that I had a talent in it. I was honestly moved even if she was just being nice and I quickly resumed lessons.

It wasn’t long after though that she had news to break that she was leaving to a different state with her husband. Even though I did stop playing for a bit due to sadness(lol), I knew I wanted to continue playing otherwise. I found a new teacher when I was around 17, and while she was highly skilled, I felt we didn’t really have good rapport(?) and lessons felt awkward.

Due to other circumstances, I also developed chronic health issues and completely stopped the piano(coincidentally also when my piano broke down). I’ve never stopped thinking of piano since, but I hadn’t pictured going back to it until my dad said he would buy me a new piano. That was what made me remember my old teacher and I just looked her up on FB to see she’s doing a bunch of different jobs elsewhere while still teaching piano.

My question is, would it be weird to reach out (as someone in my early 20s) to at least tell her I remember her and ask if she teaches online? Sorry if this is dumb and TMI. I understand I can find any other teacher if I want, but I just thought of her.
