Artificial toning

Why are people so against this? I have some franklin halves thag somone cleaned (they are completely shiny). I bought them purely for the silver and when i sell them itll be purely for the silver.

I went online to learn about toning them (why not?) And everyone is talking about how you are a terrible person if you do that. Why???
