Should the brake pedal be this “squishy”?

I drove my mom’s car today, a Honda CRV, and brake pedal was super not sensitive compared to my 2026 Civic hybrid. I had to press my foot halfway down for any meaningful braking, and it felt like the first quarter did nothing at all. If I wanted to brake hard, I’d almost be pressing it all the way down.

I know maybe my car’s brakes is on the sensitive side but I feel like this much leniency is dangerous. Her car has about 30k miles on it. Should I tell her to take it to a shop?
