Sharing something that helped me

💡 Advice

Hey guys, I wanted to drop something here that helped me out in the last few weeks.

Bit of background, I’ve been unemployed for a few months but I’m about to start a new job. I’ve decided to get back into a routine since I’ve been kinda doing whatever I want whenever I feel like.

I’ve been consistent with gym but not as much as I should be, but I didn’t mind up until now when I’m ready to essentially lock in again.

What I did last week was write down 26 challenges of things I’d like to achieve over the next year. Some of the challenges are basic like finish chapters 3-6 of a very long book I bought. Others are long like to learn a whole song on guitar.

I looked back on the list today and I realised I had already done like 4 of them (which is essentially 8 weeks of challenges).

One of the challenges were to do with the gym, one was to do with reading, up until I looked back on them I was struggling with motivation to start these tasks. Once I realised I had actually made progress without realising, I quickly picked up my guitar and started focusing on another one of my challenges.

It’s not a perfect system yet because I’ve realised I can work on perhaps 3 of these challenges every 2 weeks instead of 1, it’s taken the pressure off though.

I’d say to you guys who are struggling with consistency, set yourself goals/challenges (wording matters, I prefer solving challenges than reaching goals for some reason). Keep looking at the challenges and you’ll end up doing what’s required, you’ll fit it into your day.

If you’re trying to read more, make a challenge to read a chapter, even without time frames it can feel great to progress and tick things off.

I’ll let you guys know how it goes after about a month or two, but so far it has given me a huge boost, and made me more productive. Even if I’m not doing everything perfectly it’s nice to see that I’m edging closer to my goals.
