Question on Gear Progression

I have just finished the first planet and I have mostly enjoyed my time so far but im gonna go nuts if I can’t get a new gun soon. In the entirety of first world i found like 3 types of pistols, a shotgun and the repeating rifle. When do normal assault rifles or smgs show up because it is getting annoying using the same weapons. I know it seems like a small complaint but the first game had a ton options made available on the first planet and here ive been stuck using a burst pistol and rotating the rifle and shotgun for different scenarios.
