Cars will forever dominate this city unless the CTA gets its shit together

Like I moved here with the mentality that no, I don’t need a car, surely having public transportation means that I can just take that, no interaction with cars needed.

But today is a good example, I’m watching routes have busses out the ass coming through, while waiting for mine for 20 minutes with frozen food thawing. Check the apps, every 11 minutes it just turns back over to 11 minutes. Get on the red line because I can’t stand for that long in one spot, oh, there’s now delays, train sitting for another 10 minutes all just because I decided to go to a new route and picked the wrong time. First time it was both that absolutely let me down, but if there’s anything I want to be control of, it’s how early or late I show up somewhere, I genuinely need time to breathe before doing shit, or go somewhere asap because my body is screaming at me. E-bikes isn’t exactly a winter solution, so how am I being convinced to not get a car, to not contribute to traffic, to not make it harder to do public transportation centered moves, WHEN I CANT USE THIS SHIT AS A RELIABLE SOURCE OF TRANSPORTATION OUTSIDE OF CERTAIN PARTS OF THE CITY?!?

Then I get on these unreliable pieces of trash just to deal with trashy people, trashed busses, and garbage driving that I keep seeing, IS CAUSING KIDS AND OLD PEOPLE TO GET THROWN AROUND. Trains are fine, but a ton of train stations aren’t accommodating to disabled people, having escalators and elevators down for weeks if they got them.

I say this as someone that’s close to despising cars, the CTA needs to be fixed, because I’d rather drive an over priced piece of shit that’s an inconvince to live with, rather than ride something that’s cheap and “good for the environment” that, someone could be a problem at a stop, you bring it up to a worker, and they’re just like “o_o”, so guess who has to deal with it the whole ride?

I’d love to take the bus and especially the Train my whole entire life here in this city, but I’m not going to as long as it’s like this. I’d rather own a car for long trips with a e-scooter in the back to make up for the bus, winter time? Just hibernate outside of work and school.
